Experimental Art & Music Alias

A.M. Overtone is my art, music and film alias: one signal broadcasting otherworldly sonic landscapes and generative sci-fi visuals. The site bursts from deep space into neon, built in three.js, GSAP and the Web Audio API.

01/The Challenge

An art-and-music alias scatters easily. A Spotify here, an ArtStation there, a Vimeo somewhere else, and none of it feels like one voice. A.M. Overtone needed a home that read as a single transmission, where the music, the visual art and the films all felt broadcast by the same signal, and where the experience itself carried the sci-fi tone the work is about.

02/The Approach

I designed and built A.M. Overtone as a self-contained experience around one idea: the page is the instrument. A persistent SPHERE · MAP · TV · NOIR switcher swaps a full-viewport WebGL backdrop while the nav, audio and content stay shared. Sphere is an audio-reactive particle field in three.js that moves with the music. Map is an orbital signal map. TV is a CRT channel-surf with scanlines and RGB-split. Noir drops the whole world into high-contrast monochrome smoke. The featured track, Nebula Nights, is wired in as a real brand-skinned player, and every play button on the site drives that one track so the visuals react to live audio through the Web Audio API. Four shared sections (Music, Art, Film, Signal) carry the catalog, the galleries, the films and the bio. The system runs on the wave AM monogram, a Syne / Space Grotesk / Space Mono type stack, and a deep-space palette that bursts into neon teal, coral, magenta and signal yellow.

03/The Outcome

One site, three switchable visual modes, one shared audio engine, and a real playable track driving the visuals. The alias finally reads as a single signal instead of four scattered profiles. The nav meets WCAG AA, with color-plus-label mode dots, high-contrast section links and visible radar detection, so the experience stays accessible even at full sci-fi volume.
